Special fire-retardant paints that, in the presence of fire, react chemically by releasing a highly insulating carbon foam. The paints are resinous, water-based or solvent-based, suitable for coating steel, concrete and wood. They are sprayed on using special airless spray guns and, in particular cases, by roller and brush.
Objectives of intumescent paints:
Delay the increase in temperature of the protected structures, slowing down their collapse.
Operations that may require intumescent paints include:
Restoration of old industrial, commercial or public structures, for legal compliance
Construction of new buildings according to existing fire safety regulations
